As a teenager Mark Kohler used to be a guitar student of Fernando Von Arb's. Then he worked as KROKUS' guitar tech and in 1982 replaced Mandy Meyer as rhythm guitarist to bring KROKUS back to a five-member formation.
Consequently he recorded with the band 1982's "One Vice At A Time", 1983's "Headhunter" (playing bass for the remainder of the tour schedule after Chris Von Rohr's departure from the band), 1984's "The Blitz" (where he played bass on the record), 1986's "Change Of Address" and the same year "Alive And Screaming", followed by 1988's "Heart Attack". At the end of the "Heart Attack" North American tour, Marc Storace and Fernando Von Arb left the band. The trio of Kohler, Von Rohr and Crivelli attempted to pick up the pieces with Swedish born vocalist Bjorn Lodin and lead guitarist Many Maurer, but this line-up was short lived. Following the split of the band Mark Kohler reunited with former KROKUS drummer Freddy Steady in the "Steve Thomson Band", touring America in 1989. Kohler then formed a band called "Threat".
Mark Kohler rejoined KROKUS in 1994 for the recording of the CD EP "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" and 1995's "To Rock Or Not To Be".
And of course he toured in support of all the afore-mentioned releases over the years.
August 2nd, 2008 saw the band reunited and "live in concert" at the "Stade De Suisse" in Bern, Switzerland. With the addition of Mark Kohler a true return of the 1982 formation took place. A truly "magical" moment in KROKUS history.
On February 26th, 2010, Sony Music released "Hoodoo", the first cd recorded by the originals since the 80's. It includes the Steppenwolf cover "Born To Be Wild".
